Counting down from 08 and HELLO 2009!

So it has really been a while since I posted. Life has just been really really busy what with work stressing me out and holiday seasons and what not. Truth be told I'm just lazy and spent a lot of time watching TV at home. There are always so many new drama series to catch up on TV during winter time.

As a sorta backdated post, I'm just gonna summarize my last few months kinda like a partial countdown to the new year.

So I moved to the building of my "new" company back in October. Have been really busy ever since, you know how it is when you have a "new" job. You just have to work extra hard and try to survive all the layoffs going on around you. So that was what I did.
But amidst my busy-ness I did find time during the weekends to do some fun stuffs with friends.

Here's from Halloween 2008 (10/31/08). For the first time in my life in the states, I actually put on some vampire makeup and attempted to attend the Halloween parade ( it's a parade that's held every year on halloween with pretty much all the manhattanites with party spirits in them attending ). You do have to give the Americans credit. They do know how to spend, even during a recession! Check out this Sesame Street costume below. It has to be the best costume I saw all night amidst the ghouls and mummies and other characters from TV.

Then come November. November is a pretty busy month for me. Had a hot pot session at one of my malaysian friend's place.

Did I mention I've been hanging out with my fellow countrymen quite a lot this year? Yeah that's about the only times I'd go get out from the island of Manhattan and venture into Queens. Not that it's that far away. And the view from Long Island City in Queens over to Manhattan is obviously gorgeous - check it out.

And then come the big thanksgiving pot luck dinner at another malaysian's place. Had a HECK lot of fun playing games like TABOO! No one makes me laugh so hard than these bunch of friends. I am indeed thankful for their company.

And then come December. Man. I can't wait for 2008 to be over. But now that 2009 is here...can I say I can't wait for it to be over as well?
Well so back to talking about December. Well the city ( New York that is) is always filled with an air of festivity in December, with the anticipation for Christmas building up. Walking around New York taking in the simple sights of the Christmas-sy decorations makes me happy!

Rockefellar Center is where the biggest Christmas tree in the city is located. Every year tons of tourists would swarm to the area just to take a picture with the tree! Well I didn't take one this year, but I did venture to Radio City which is close to where my company's main building is. It is pretty Chrismassy eh?

Now December is really a busy month for me. Part of it is from work. We try to do more client entertainment toward the end of the year you know..the spirit of the festivities. So sales does come with some perks. So I went to see the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City as part of my client entertainment. The Christmas Spectacular is a very popular show during Xmas featuring the famous Rockettes and their dancing.

See the amount of people seeing the show?

And then there's this NBA basketball game that I got free tickets for. It's the first NBA game I've ever been to! I had to catch a train from Penn Station to Secaucus in New Jersey and then take a bus to the Izod center, where the New Jersey Nets is playing against the Dallas Mavericks. Remind me again why I don't like to venture outside of Manhattan? Yeah it is quite a pain to get around.
In any case, I figured it is worth the trouble to see Jason Kidd play. The Beijing Olympics definitely spiked some interest in me to see some NBA players play.
Although the Dallas Mavericks lost by quite a bit to the Nets, it was still an interesting game to watch.

I really would love to see LeBron James play but his games are usually sold out so I don't get free tickets or discounted tickets for them :) Oh did I mentioned one of the Chinese olympic players ( Yi Jianlian ) plays for the Nets? Jason is in this picture but he's not.

And then there's always the hot cheer-leaders to check out ;)

And then I also went to see a Jay Chou concert at the Mohegan Sun Casino. It was awesome, although he's a tiny figure far far away :) Didn't bring my camera so no pictures of him. Although I did take some of the casino.

And then it was Christmas when my brother came to visit. We went to Boston for like...half a day.
Checked out the Quincy Market which is one of the most popular touristy places.

And they have a big ass Christmas Tree too! So here you go. Obviously is not as ostentatious as the one at Rockefellar Center but I suppose this will do.

Walked around the area and seeing all these night scenes in Boston brought back memories of that time back in 2003 where I spent 6 weeks in Boston. I love the area near the pier!

And the next morning, all was dreary as we checked out the Boston Commons near where our hotel is.

Then a week after my brother left - Happy New Year 2009! Guess who I spent New Year's Eve with :)The same crowd I rang in 2008 with! Wow it has been officially a year!

So HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009 EVERYBODY! BEST WISHES TO ALL AND MAY THIS YEAR BRING PROSPERITY, WEALTH, HEALTH AND HAPPINESS TO EVERYONE!

Happy New Year! I'm a little jealous of all the lovely client entertainment you've been doing--how wonderful! Good luck in the new year, and hang in there. *hugs*
